Facial massage is a specialised treatment in its own right, and sometimes an ‘add-on’ to a body treatment. It is great for relaxation, anti-ageing, general facial health, or to treat a specific skin condition.
Whatever the reason, selection of a blend to suit the client’s needs contributes greatly to a successful outcome. Facial skin is so different – and important – so creating the blend may require a bit of careful thought. It is unlikely that the blend used on the rest of the body will suit.
A key component of a good facial blend is to find the right carrier oil(s). You might want to add some Rose Hip Seed (Rosa rubiginosa) which is exceptionally helpful for scar tissue. Jojoba (technically a wax that is liquid at room temperature, not an oil) is chemically very similar to sebum, so it penetrates deeply, is good for dry skin, but also for sebum control. Borage (Borago officinalis) is very high in GLA, and could be added to an anti-ageing blend. Apricot is a good ‘base’, being easily absorbed.
Sometimes you’ll be able to tailor your own blends for the client. But sometimes time is short, and sometimes the raw materials may not be to hand. Oshadhi facial oil blends could be useful to you at times like this.
