Thyme Linalol – Thymus vulgaris

July 10, 2009 By Dr Malte Hozzel

Thyme Linalol – Thymus vulgaris

This Thyme oil is one of the milder expressions of the extremely variegated thyme group with its numerous subspecies. Thyme has been since ages one of the major healing plants of Europe, used and praised for its ability to enliven the spirit and to fight nervous disorders. Its detoxifying (kidneys, lungs, skin, all excretory organs) and clearing properties have been studied at length.

The highly burning sensation which the usual thymol type of thyme leaves on the skin and mucus membranes (itself an expression of the oxydation/ combustion under the fire of detoxification) is mitigated and softened in Thyme, chemotype Linalol, a floral alcohol of a sweet balsamic fragrance. However sweet and soft the oil may appear, it does not forget the nature of THYME and its “signature”, lying in its definite anti-microbial, fungicide (candida), viricide and parasiticide properties.

Inflammatory processes like stomatitis, gastritis, bacterial or fungal entero-colitis etc. as well as pulmonary problems like bronchitis and also muscular rheumatism are successfully approached with this oil. Thyme also increases capillary circulation; it tonifies and strengthens the scalp and helps against dandruff and hairloss. Thyme has a stimulating effect on the adrenal glands and therefore increases hormonal output. It is an excellent energizer, neuro-tonic and utero-tonic and a recognized aphrodisiac.

Its strong, “psycho-somatic” energy charges the batteries of our life (kidney function) and revitalizes our exchange with the world (lung function) – giving us a more optimistic, less anxious outlook on ourselves and on life. Softened radiance of a mighty flame for life.
