Rosewood – Aniba roseodora

July 1, 2007 By Dr Malte Hozzel

Soft and sweet in its appearance the exotic Rosewood oil exhales notes of a gentle, balsamic, slightly woody character which are well liked by modem perfumers. Due to problems of overharvesting during the past decades however only limited amounts of this oil will be available in the near future.

Despite is apparent “softness” Rosewood oil is an excellent anti-bacterial, anti-viral and fungicide, particularly effective in case of nose, throat and ear infections and candida. It stimulates the immune system, tonifies the heart, and can succesfully be used against problems of cold, fever and flu. In cases of nervous exhaustion and fatigue Rosewood oil, also combined with Palmarosa and Geranium Rose, is a good choice.

Its major usage lies, however, in its capacity to soften an “irritated” atmosphere and to build bridges between poles of separation. Rosewood stimulates friendliness and lightness, warming up the feelings and stabilizing them. Blossoming wood, etherial forces in material disguise, sweetness illumined and enhanced.
