Essential oils: A meeting place for many minds

November 26, 2009 By Jonathan Hinde

When I took my aromatherapy course some years ago, one thing that struck me was how aromatherapy seemed to be a meeting place for people from many different disciplines.

There were some people who were coming in from the medical side, such as nurses, health visitors, etc. There was a group of people who had done many courses relating to beauty and well-being, and almost seemed to be chalking another one up. They had maybe done facials, Swedish massage, reflexology, Indian Head, etc, and this was another treatment to offer.

And then there were the people who came in from a spiritual angle, some of whom seemed to be able to hold on to our normal level or reality only just by the tips of their fingers!

Aromas are so interesting in themselves and in the effects that they have on us. They elicit such graphic memories and impressions; and they have an effect on so many different levels of life: physical (and all the levels of the physical), emotional, mental, spiritual.
And essential oils give us such a clean quick and direct message of millions of years of evolution, straight to the limbic system!

It is no wonder that they have such a universal appeal.
